Why I am never again planning to go to the hairdresser
It is fortunately not because of a really bad recent experience. :) I was actually not at the hairdresser since 2016.
There were always two possible outcomes when going to the hairdresser. The first one was that it didn't end up well and I was not happy about the result from the start. For example too short or too long or just generally different from the expectations. Then the whole point of going to a professional to get a haircut was somehow losing the point. And these were not rare experiences either. Everytime it was a gamble if the hairdresser is going to understand what I want and will be able to do it as I want.
But I think that the second outcome of getting the perfect haircut is also not so great in the long run. And here is why.
So the visit went well, the haircut is amazing, but what about the next day after washing the hair again. It is still good, but not as good as the first day. And then it is just a ride downhill until the next fix at the hairdresser. So not just that going to the hairdresser made me dependent on going to the hairdresser like I was some sort of drug addict. But also in the time in between the haircuts I was not feeling that good about my hair. Because I was the whole time waiting for the next fix to make it perfect again.
Now that I haven't gone to the hairdresser for about 5 years and I bought some semi professional scissors I am starting to be the expert on cutting my own hair. Professional hairdresser has to be the expert of cutting anyones hair. I just have to be the expert on cutting my own hair. :)
The benefit is that I can do small adjustments anytime I want. I have no highs and lows, because I am keeping it as I want it all the time. I don't have to be scared of leaving the hairdresser with something I am not happy about. And I can try to invest the time and money in other things that will benefit my well being more that a hairdresser perfect haircut for a day or two. :)
Speaking of a perfect haircut, Ušo was wondering, what makes a haircut perfect. So he asked his friend, a hedgehog. The hedgehog said: "The perfect haircut makes you safe against a snake attack." Ušo wanted to have such a perfect haircut as well, and so he went to a hairdresser to get it. He was turned away, however, because he had no hairs to be cut in the first place. His only hope is therefore either to make friends with the next snake to attack him, or to not mind being attacked. The latter puts quite some freedom in one's life, at the expense of possibly making it shorter.
